It can start, stop, define and update z86 users and the z\/VM shared virtual machines for I\/O.<\/p>\n<p>Z86 EXEC operates against the z86 user to define it, create a boot image and its associated mini disks. For the I\/O shared virtual machine, it will define, start, update and format the relevant storage devices for this image. Then signs on the I\/O Server and performs an FINIT command to format as an x86 hard drive.<\/p>\n<h3>Define<\/h3>\n<p>DEFINE\u00a0 =ALL | z86userid<br \/>\nDefine users and images to the I\/O file system;\u00a0 On behalf of the request, the following commands get executed for each user:<\/p>\n<p>ADDUSER AAAAAAAA<\/p>\n<p>Add a user AAAAAAAA to the file system.<br \/>\nADDFILE USERID TYPE FILEID SECTORSIZE DISKSIZE<br \/>\nAdd a file to the file system.<br \/>\nUserID is the Z86 user that the new file belongs.<br \/>\nTYPE is File type: HD\/FD\/CD\u00a0 as specified in the PROFILE Z86. \u2028FILEID is name of file (up to 200 CHARS).\u00a0 This is the pcimage defined in PROFILE Z86.<br \/>\nSECTORSIZE of 512 for HD\/FD; 2048 for CDROM. Can be overridden in the PROFILE Z86.<br \/>\nDISKSIZE is size of disk These definitions are from the \u2018z86 Reference Card\u2019 specified in KBytes, MBytes, GBytes.\u00a0 This size is defined by hdmem in the PROFILE Z86.<br \/>\nExamples:<br \/>\nADDFILE USER2 HD DISK.IMG 512 200M Defines a 200mb Hard Disk.<br \/>\nADDFILE USER2 FD FLOPPY.IMG 512 144K Defines a 144kb Floppy Disk.<br \/>\nADDFILE USER2 CD CDROM.IMG 2048 100M Defines a 100mb CDROM<\/p>\n<p>ADDBOOT AAAAAAAA XXXXX<br \/>\nAdds boot information for User AAAAAAAA<br \/>\nXXXXX is the boot information. These options are specified in the<br \/>\nPROFILE Z86.<br \/>\nExample:<br \/>\nADDBOOT USER4 MEM=2G FDA=M32.IMG BOOT=FDA TYPE=16<\/p>\n<h3>INITBOOT\u00a0 ALL | server id<\/h3>\n<p>For all I\/O and x86 Servers or individual servers.<br \/>\nProfile definitions are used to build the boot disk, which by default is the 194 for x86 servers and 195 for I\/O servers. The \u2018module\u2019 defined in the Profile is copied to the boot disk.\u00a0 Boot information for an I\/O server includes \u2018module\u2019 and \u2018origin\u2019.\u00a0 Additional boot information for an x86 server includes: \u2019io_server\u2019, \u2018tcpip\u2019, \u2018vncport\u2019 and \u2018vnicadr\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>InitIO<\/h3>\n<p>INITIO\u00a0 &#8211; Auto starts\u00a0 all I\/O servers and then finit\u2019s the I\/O file system volumes<\/p>\n<h3>Load<\/h3>\n<p>LOAD\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; (Performs a ZVCOPY to pc image) Copies the master x86 operating system image, \u2018vmimage\u2019, from z\/VM CMS to the specified x86 user id\u2019s PC image space as \u2018pcimage\u2019. The z86 user ids and the PC image are listed in the PROFILE Z86 file. If different operating systems will be loaded to a variety of different z86 users, then separate PROFILE Z86 files can be utilized to isolate operations to specific userids.\u00a0 Important Usage Note: The z86 user must be logged off when processing this command. The zIO server must be logged on or disconnected.<\/p>\n<h3>Start<\/h3>\n<p>START\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; ALL | ## | user\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 XAUTOLOG the z86vm machines;<br \/>\n## = the first ## defined in the Profile z86. Works for both zio and z86 users<\/p>\n<h3>Stop<\/h3>\n<p>STOP\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; ALL | ## | user\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FORCE a z\/VM logoff of the z86vm machine(s);<br \/>\n## = the first ## defined in the Profile z86.<br \/>\nNote: STOP will ask for a \u201cYES\u201d confirmation to complete the STOP as follows:<br \/>\nWhen an x86 server request is made: \u201cAre you sure you want to force xxx before you perform a shutdown?\u00a0 The image may be damaged.\u201d<br \/>\nWhen an I\/O server request is made: \u201cAre you sure you want to force I\/O Server xxx?\u00a0 If a YES reply is not entered, the STOP operation is skipped.<\/p>\n<h3>Abort<\/h3>\n<p>Abort\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FORCE a z\/VM logoff of all x86 and I\/O servers;<br \/>\nABORT will ask only once for a \u201cYES confirmation:\u00a0 Abort may destroy data and require an install.\u00a0 Answer YES to ABORT or NO to skip\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>ENVIRONMENTAL COMMANDS<\/h2>\n<h3>\u00a0Getimage = z86user<\/h3>\n<p>Runs zvcopy CMS:\u00a0 copy from PC image, \u2018pcimage\u2019 to zVM file, \u2018getimage\u2019. This is one way to create a backup of the PC operational environment. Important Usage Note: The z86 user should be shutdown and logged off when processing this command. The zIO server must be logged on or disconnected.<\/p>\n<h2>INFORMATIONAL COMMANDS<\/h2>\n<h3>Test<\/h3>\n<p>TEST\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; List values from the parameter file, whose default is PROFILE Z86 A;<\/p>\n<h3>WS<\/h3>\n<p>WS provides the working set information associated with zVM guests being used with z86VM. At present, this is being used for the development and performance improvement of z86VM. It is not expected to be a customer option when the product becomes generally available.<\/p>\n<h3>Perf<\/h3>\n<p>PERF\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 This command provides performance data in the system log. It can be processed on its own. It is also included within the WS option.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018WS\u2019 and \u2018PERF\u2019 are primarily for z86VM development benefit to check z\/VM utilization. Paging was a big consideration before we got the z114 and IFL\u2019s.\u00a0 We could add any commands we need.<\/p>\n<p>parm.z86.0 contains the number of z86id entries from the PROFILE Z86.<br \/>\nExample, if PROFILE Z86 had<br \/>\nz86id = DEMODSL<br \/>\nz86id = SME8<br \/>\nparm.z86.0 = 2 and<br \/>\nparm.z86.1 = \u2018DEMODSL\u2019 and parm.z86.2 = \u2018SME8\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018WS\u2019 would issue \u2018cp ind user DEMODSL\u2019 and \u2018cp ind user SME8\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018WS\u2019 Results<\/h3>\n<pre>I\/O volumes configured:
